A neon sign in Easton Public Market that says #I Love Easton.

I love all seasons for different reasons, but fall definitely has a soft spot in my heart. Especially since leaving high school behind… Though, confession time: as an avid reader, I loved my summer reading lists and looked forward to discussing every novel (nerd, I know).

And buying fresh pens and notebooks? Always a highlight. Before I had this blog, I had journals stacked high — and yes, I still write in them.

Back to the point: fall, I love.

I love the cooling of the days, the crickets still chirping but the heat finally breaking, my hair no longer frizzing, and the chance to wear something besides athletic shorts. I love the subtle shift in the trees until they’re suddenly blazing with color. I love PSLs, sweaters, cozy socks, blankets, candles, fire pits, fireplaces… I’m a Taurus, for chrissake — throw me a blanket, a caramel-vanilla candle, and an oversized sweatshirt, and I’m set for days.

So yeah. Fall’s my vibe. It’s also the season of one of my favorite holidays (guess which): Halloween.

Technically, summer sticks around until September 22, but fall already started in my heart. And the first weekend of September was the perfect kickoff: a mix of crisp air, sunny skies, and the pull of hometown haunts right here in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley — specifically Easton, PA. This small city is one of the best spots for a cozy fall weekend getaway in Pennsylvania.

Easton straddles the PA/NJ border, with the Delaware River and a single bridge separating it from Phillipsburg. It’s a small city (really more of a town) with plenty of quirk. The downtown blends historic brick buildings and old silk mills with edgy, modern energy brought in part by New York City transplants. It’s quaint, charming, a little gritty, and very much alive. My weekend stops — both old favorites and new discoveries — reflected that perfectly and made for some of my favorite fall things to do in Easton, PA.

No other café competes for me after this one. How does a place make a side salad memorable? I don’t know, but they nailed it. My vegetarian sandwich, coffee, and yes, that salad were all fantastic. My brother joined me and confirmed his meal was equally delicious. The menu is extensive — quesadillas, pancakes, more sandwiches — so I’ll be back to try it all. Truly one of the standout Easton PA cafés.

Stop Two: A Stroll Through Easton

Easton is a city best explored on foot. Murals splash color across buildings, Victorian homes with wraparound porches sit beside modern apartments, and tucked-away alleys glow with strung lights and small shops. Add in vintage stores, cozy cafés, and the fact that it’s home to the Crayola Factory, and you’ve got a city that feels both whimsical and rooted. Wandering here is half the fun — a perfect downtown Easton stroll in early fall.

Stop Three: Belleville Market

This newer addition stole my heart. Think of it as a mini-bazaar of quirky, eclectic finds: stationery, vintage treasures, cute décor, and the occasional oddity that’s both creepy and endearing. It’s not a food hall (which is mostly Easton Public Market’s job), but rather a collection of shops that make browsing an adventure. For fans of Easton PA markets, this is a must. I loved it. I’ll be back.

One thing I miss about D.C. is its beer gardens — communal tables, sunshine, live music, and the option to just hang out, drink or no drink. Wanderlust captures that vibe perfectly. With backyard games like corn hole, a band playing out of an old GMC truck, and benches perfect for chatting with friends or reading solo, it was the ideal end to the day. For a renter without a backyard, this felt like borrowed magic. Easily one of the most fun Easton PA beer garden experiences.

Closing Thoughts

Even as I plan my move to another city, weekends like this remind me why the Lehigh Valley — and Easton especially — holds a piece of my heart. It’s bittersweet, seeing a hometown grow cooler, quirkier, and more vibrant as I prepare to leave. But it also reminds me of what I love about this place, not just what it might lack. For anyone looking for a fall weekend getaway in Pennsylvania, Easton is proof that small town fall travel can be just as inspiring as big-city adventures.
